I’ve always loved to travel. Whether on business or for personal. I love warm sunny weather, beautiful beaches, sunrises and sunsets. New places to dine and dance. It’s always an adventures. I’ve had a goal to venture to all the Caribbean islands - while I have not yet met that goal it’s exciting to keep that in mind especially these day with unprecedented times ahead. I like to dream and keep the faith with hope top of mind. I also love to shop online from undergarments to active wear and other apparel. and beauty essentials. I share my shopping and traveling experiences with you and encourage you to explore and shop.
So I recently traveled over Mother’s Day weekend to check in on close family members who have been isolated and in need of care. I was reluctant, as one would expect, to travel the friendly-skys and pleasantly surprised as the positive outcome I experienced. From airport procedures, cleanliness, new boarding process, on-board guidelines, and other minor enhancements to make our travel experience a positive and safe one. These changes made me feel reassured. I was in a safe place and not putting myself at risk.
Delta Airlines established the following guidelines to accommodate our traveling needs;
controlled entry into airport with one main entrance door from outside.
social distancing lines marked throughout the airport in designated areas
TSA priority check-in - everyone took laptops out, shoes left on. Mask pulled down to verify identity with ID. No lines, expedited process.
sufficient conveniences - limited food and beverage establishments open in the airport. One convenient store, one Starbucks, rest rooms and pet relief areas open. Airlines clubs closed.
rate your experience - clever and simple machines established in key visible areas to rate your travel experience from rest room to gate areas.
renovated gate areas to accommodate the new norm with updated services
e-certificates given for unused travel from Mar - May 2020 good thru Sept 2022.
limited passenger boarding of 5-10 passengers at a time, from the back of the plane forward (FINALLY!). Premium seats board at leisure.
face masks required for all on-board travelers and provided to those who did not have them.
no food or beverages served . An optional/complimentary “to go bag” offered with water, two peanut-free snacks, hand-sanitizer - the same to both premium and coach seats.
de-boarding - few passengers at a time, coordinated and expeditiously.
transportation services were cordial, prepared with face masks and taking precautions.
All in all, a very positive experience!
So while my traveling went off without a hitch, I prepared my bag with all the necessary essentials starting with my hand sanitizers, masks, gloves, undergarments and apparel. Since we’ve been homebound, I’ve dressed comfortably and casually so this trip was no different. I was able to minimize on items and eliminate the bulk or non-essentials. I brought limited beauty products, my favorite CRISSCROSS active bras and panties, two leggings, one pair of jeans, few tops and one sweater. For a few days, I had sufficient items for this trip. I brought a small bottle of my fav smelling organic soap to wash my undergarments with extra masks and gloves on-hand to spare. I disinfected my bag upon arrival at my destination with Lysol wipes, showered and washed my garments. These precautions will become our new norm with daily living and travel for quite some time (post-COVID19).
